Pollen number is an important trait for evolutional, agricultural, and medical aspects. Recently we developed a rapid and efficient method for counting pollen numbers (Kakui et al. 2020 Methods in Mol Biol 2160 p.1-11). And we first identified pollen number controlling gene using this method (Tsuchimatsu and Kakui et al. 2020, Nature Communications). In this project, we search other pollen number controlling gene(s) to clarify the pollen number pathway. We also isolate pollen number controlling genes from crops.
